Allie Quady to be Program Manager at EcoFarm
Poppy Davis, the Executive Director of the Ecological Farming Association (EcoFarm) in Soquel, California is pleased to announce that Allie Quady will join the organization as the Program Manager immediately. Allie Quady is a Central Valley native and the daughter of small business owners. She grew up in a small 4H town, put her time in pulling stumps and cleaning dirty equipment, and went on to pursue a master’s degree in agriculture and food policy.
Before coming to EcoFarm, Allie managed the new applicant review process for growers seeking organic certification at California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and enjoyed keeping her Spanish sharp by working with Spanish speaking clients.
Allie is a graduate of the Agriculture, Food and the Environment program at the Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts University. While there, she received fellowships from the EPA to study water quality and from the Albert Schweitzer Foundation to create an urban gardening and nutrition program at the St. Francis House Day Shelter in Boston. Her coursework culminated in a study for the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources targeted at uncovering barriers to participation in the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program.
Experienced in managing multi-day events, Allie raised funds and obtained grants for a multi-day girls’ bike tour to raise support for girls’ education as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal. She also set up educational seminars to help farmers access improved varieties and grafting techniques.
Allie is looking forward to working with the inspiring people that attended the 2010 EcoFarm Conference and to bringing many new folks on board.
