EcoFarm has awarded 13 Conference scholarships in an effort to support beginning farmers and make the unique and abundant resources provided at the EcoFarm Conference more accessible.

These scholarships are possible with support from the USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (NIFA), Horizon Organic, and Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative.

Although beginning and experienced farmers have attended the EcoFarm Conference since the first conference in 1981, new farmer attendance has increased by more than 25 percent over the last decade, spurring the development of EcoFarm GenNext in collaboration with California FarmLink.

EcoFarm GenNext activities include a formal beginning farmer track at the EcoFarm Conference, an EcoFarm GenNext Blog, with a panel of experienced farmers answering beginning farmer questions and field days, and mentor meetings including farm tours and/or hands-on training in innovative techniques.

Here are 10 of the EcoFarm GenNext Scholarship Recipients:

  • Sarah Brown
  • Alexandra Eastman
  • Marcelo Garza
  • Lisa Lawrence
  • George Macros
  • Paula Manalo
  • Jack Motter
  • Adam Nuber
  • Amanda Seely
  • Tim Van Wagner
